This week in review

Well it looks like I am only going to manage to blog about once a week, so I should just settle myself to being a lousy blogger and move on! I just keep the hope alive that one day I will be able to sit down at my computer and type what is on my mind freely. Now I sit down and stare at the screen for what seems like hours...in reality it is only minutes. I always thought that I liked to write, I kept a journal when I was younger, but after I got married and had kids it seemed like I had too much else going on to keep up with a person journal. So I started this blog last year thinking that it would be like my personal journal and of course my crafty connection. I don't think it's working out so well, think I am just getting by. Oh well, there is alway a better tomorrow!!!

So I have been busy this week. I managed to make 2 scrap pages, which is impressive for me since I have not scrapped in weeks. The first one is a sketch from Liz Qualman. I just love her sketches, when I look at them they make me want to get creative. I haven't always worked with sketches, but I am finding on days when I don't have much mojo they really help get the thought process going. So I am taking a big step out of my box my doing sketches and it still makes me happy and I still feel creative. I think that was my biggest fear is if I did sketches I would feel like I was copying and not putting my own flair, but what I find is that it makes the process easier and I add my flair with the papers and embellishments. Who knew!!!!

Got off to a late start this morning and the kids are late for school...I just can't seem to get it together...I am looking forward to the summer break already. This mommy was not made for school and I find it so hard to keep my kids motivated and willing to go! I know it is a necessity, but man oh man, could they start a little later!!!

Where has the month of March gone?

I can't believe that is has been 2 weeks since I have last blogged. Actually I can believe that...time just seems to slip away from me. I do have some very good excuses and that is my son has been sick, so sick that he was in the hospital for a week and before that home for 6 days, so my life was pretty much centered around him and getting him better. I did manage a few crafting projects, nothing really big. A page or 2 for my scrapbook.

In other news I went out for a Guest Designer with a well know sketch artist in the scrapbooking world, Liz Qualman. I made her team of talented people that will be bringing you examples of her work throughout the year on Sundays. If you don't already visit her blog, go and see her work. The sketches are amazing and really jump start my creativity. http://lizqualman.blogspot.com/

I will be back later in the week to share more, I am working on my monthly card swap for my group and will hopefully have some time to post the final card. I have tried several different ideas and finally found something I like.

Is it already Tuesday?

My days just seem to blur together lately. I feel like my time off from work is busy than when I am at work!!! How crazy is that! I am sure it is because I have had to deal with so much going on at home with my sick kiddo. I have not mentioned this before but I my little guy has been undergoing some medical testing. Last year he started getting sick to his stomach often, it progressed, they did some testing and it came back that he had H. pylori. Well it started again this fall and has progressively gotten worse and worse. We are seeing a new GI dr. and he is doing all kinds of testing and so far nothing has been found. Last week was the worst, he was sick all week and out of school. He is complaining that his side hurts and his throat. We took him to the dr, then to the ER and they found nothing. Gave him all these different meds to take and none of them seem to be working. It is so frustrating to not know what is going on with him and not be able to make him better. We have another appointment this week and I am making jokes that I am going to chain myself to the chair in the dr. office till they figure something out! I am not really sure that I am joking! Haha!
I am still behind with my crafting time, I have not actually crafted in about 2 weeks, sad but true. I did however want to share with you my card that I made for my monthly card swap group last month.

I had so much fun doing this card. I cut the leaves using my cricut and my Mother's day cartridge, then inked them with Tim Holtz distress inks, let dry, heat imbossed the butterfly, then inked it with the distress inks, printed my sentiment on cardstock and popdotted to the card after I inked it. I did cuttlebug the background with the mesh embossing folder, love this folder but find that I hardly use it. This card is really not my style but I really loved trying the different inking techniques. When I did the leaves I inked the craft mat then sprayed with water and swooshed my leaves all around the craft mat. It gave the leaves a mottled look to them. The colors I used were broken china, tattered rose, shabby shutters, and a mixture of old paper and tea dye.

I am hoping that tomorrow I will have news about my son! If so I will be so happy!!! Until then...lets just hope today he is on the mend, cause this momma can't handle another day of playing nurse!
