It's only Tuesday

I feel that my week is coming together much better today, even though it is only Tuesday! I ended up being super productive yesterday and getting a lot accomplished, made me feel better and really helped brighten my mood!

Today I am tackling the long list of things to get done for my daughter's graduation party. I am starting now that way I won't be in a panic next week trying to get it all done. I always seem to procrastinate and then get overstressed in the end. Not this time, I am going to pace myself and hopefully be able to enjoy the moment a little more.

Today is my monthly card swap group get together, unfortunately I will not be joining the girls for the night. My daughter has been invited to honors night and I am so hoping she receives one of the scholarships she has applied for. Anyway it is more important to attend tonight's honor event then the card group. I did remember to photograph my card and I went ahead and photographed my friends card too, cause I like it so much!

The first card with the tulips is my friends card that she made. I think it is my favorite because tulips are my favorite flower. The weird thing is I have never grown tulips in my flower beds, not sure why I don't go out and buy the tulip bulbs and plant them, but just never done that! Note to self: buy some tulips to plant this fall for next year.

The second card is the one I made, I have been wanting to do some type of rainbow card for a while and just could not decide on one design, this one just came to me and it evolved. Not sure it is my most favorite card, but it does make me happy and it was fairly easy and quick to put together. Next month's card group is at my house, should be a fun time!

I can't believe I have posted 2 days in a row to my little ol' blog...amazing! Guess I have more to say with as much activity that is going on in my household right now! Who knows maybe I will be back tomorrow with another post!

Mopey Monday!

That is what I feel like, mopey. Really more then anything I am tired from my busy weekend and I need to just push past the exhaustion and get on with the next thing I have to do! This weekend was the start to our many grad parties and activities! I did manage to sit down and make a card for the graduate, been meaning to do it all week and just never got the chance. Actually I made 3 cards and some new flowers, so I guess that is considered productive! I just feel that I have so much to get done in the next 2 weeks that when I accomplish a small task it just does not seem like much!

In other news we are a week and 4 days away from graduation! Can't believe it is already here, time just seems to fly by! We have been steadily receiving response cards for our daughter's graduation party and it looks like we will have about 60 people joining us for the evening, could be more, still waiting on some to respond. Wow is all I can say, I am thrilled that we have so many people to support our family and join in the celebration. I feel so blessed! Of course the pressure is on to get all the decor items ready for the celebration and all the food stuff ready to go. We are having the event catered but I am making the desserts, well at least some of them. Planning a day next week to get all of that done!

Flower Bliss

I have spent the last several days making these fabulous fabric flowers! I have been seeing them everywhere and have been wanting to learn how to make them and finally had the time to sit down and get all of the directions. Then it was off to the fabric store to buy lots of yummy fabric. I found that buying remnants worked out great, they are almost half the price of the original cost and it does not take much fabric to make these flowers. A quarter of a yard makes about 4 rolled roses and 4 layered peonies. If you visit Rhonna Designs blog she has step by step instructions for the layered flowers and then if you watch her video she teaches the other techniques.

I have put either clips or pin backs on them and can wear them with coordinating outfits. So excited!

I was so happy to learn these flowers that I took the plunge at making a bib necklace. I have seen these on sale everywhere and have been dying to buy one...Well I made one and then on Mother's day my kids actually bought me one! So now I have 2, actually I am giving the one pictured to my mom. Of course I will wear it a time or 2 first! I gotta break it in and make sure it looks good!

This is going to be another busy week, I think May is just notoriously crazy! Especially when you have a child graduating from high school, oh my there are so many things going on! Hope I have time to post again this week.

Just wanted to share with all my peeps that I was a featured artist over at Liz Qualman's blog, go here to see my work. I really enjoyed working with her sketch this month and more exciting was it was featured. I will be doing it again this year, can't wait! I will keep you posted on my next date.

Senior Prom

The day is finally here and my battery went dead in my camera and I left the extra battery at home so I had to beg photos off of other parents...at least one of the parents was nice enough to email them to me right away. I am so pleased about that, it doesn't make me as sad! I am extremely exhausted from all the chaos leading up to this day! I worked until midnight finishing the beading and hemming on the dress, then woke this morning at 7am to make the corsages...I must be crazy! I would do it again in a heartbeat! At least now I have a couple of years before my son will be in high school and boys don't seem to be so high maintenance!!!

Going to bed early tonight and hoping to sleep in tomorrow, then will be meeting the girls for a day of beauty! Can't wait, finally a day for me!

Light at the end of the tunnel

I see the light! I do see it! I can't believe that I am on the countdown to my daughter's prom. I took on a very adventurous project this year for my daughter's prom. We bought a beautiful plain peacock colored gown and I decided to bead it. I have been working on this dress for several weeks now and have finally come to the last 3 inches of beading, the prom is tomorrow. I will be frantically working today to finish the last bit and then hem the dress. I am so proud of the work that I have done, but man was this a bigger project than I thought! It didn't help that I was procrastinating it! It seems like that is what I do lately when I have any project looming over me, I wait until the last minute and run around frantically trying to get it done. I should learn from this that it just makes me too crazy to wait, just do a little daily and their will be no anxiety the week before the deadline! If only I would learn...

Here is just a sampling of what the beading looks like from the back of the dress. It is beaded all the way around to the front and over the shoulders, until the straps start pleading, then I did a decorative finish with the beads so that the pleading can be showcased. I am really happy with the results, but now I must go and finish...just a few short hours of beading to go. Gotta finish in time!

This week is a blur...

This marks my week of craziness! My daughter is performing in high school. She belongs to the choral program at the high school and I am the president of the booster club. We are putting on the 10th annual Peach Jam (a variety show) and it has been a busy week. I can't believe it is Sunday already. I feel like I just woke up Monday morning last week to start decorating the auditorium. We have already one show done and the last one to do today. I think I am tired because I worked all week and went to the school before or after work to get the other things done. I just felt that I have missed work lately for so many other things (like sick kids) that I didn't need to take off for this. Wish I would have rethought that decision, cause I am beyond exhausted!!! Except I did have one of my best days ever at work this weekend, kind of made up for my slow weeks lately.

I got no photos to share this week as I have not been creative...actually I have been but in different ways. I am always working like crazy to finish beading my daughter's prom dress, what was I thinking to do it by hand!!!! I sometimes surprise myself with how ambitious I really am...we have less than a week before prom, wish me luck!
